Need Info on Serious Complications from Anaesthesia

Post a new topicby JoyceBJ on Thu Oct 18, 2007 1:59 pm

A friend underwent laparoscopic spinal surgery 6 days ago and is still almost paralized due to anaethesia complications. His wife tells me he should get over this and will then be sent to a rehab hospital - not to out-patient rehab as expected. She is very cheerful, upbeat and seems not concerned about these serious complications. I am worried, though. This healthy man can no longer use his body or eat on his own. He is also heavily sedated to manage his pain. This is a full 6 DAYS after he underwent a minimally invasive, successful back surgery under anaestheisa. I have never HEARD of such a major complication. Has anyone else? Is this likely to just resolve itself in time?
