Emergency ColectomyThe last week of June my colon exploded. I thought I had food poisoning because I was feeling very nauseaus [nauseas] and feverish. But my stomach was so very hard and I was not vomiting. Only sleeping and doubled over in pain. Re: Emergency ColectomyHi. This is my first time on this site. I wish I would have gotten on sooner. I am 35 and was rushed to the hospital 1 year ago.I was in major stomach pain, I couldn't handle, and was pregnant with twins. The doctors were stumped. No tests. It could be her appendix. For 17 hours they left me in pain worse than labor. My ob new it wasn't the babies. I was only 8 weeks thank goodness. She was at home and had a feeling she had to come back because the doctors were doing nothing. Although I didn't know because like you I was in and out. She ended up scoping me. The doctors were going to let me go through the night. My colon had flipped over on itself not just once but twice. It was gangreened and flaking. She saved my life and the babies. I had all the problems you did,but no colostemy. I'm lucky and sorry for you. The surgens did do an wonderful job on the surgery. They said I stumped them because they never saw this in someone so young. I had all the same healing issues as you. I now can eat anything. Emotionally I think of it everyday and struggle. It seems silly to admit they I'm still having a problem dealing with it because I'm so lucky to be here. I could have died that night if my ob didn't come back. I hope it has helped by me responding. And I know I don't know you, but I'm here....
