I am a 73 year old female who recently had an adenomatous polyp and 18 inches of my colon removed. After my surgery, I requested an RX for "Miralax" which is a tasteless, mix with water, stool softener. Although I experienced the same type of symptoms that you described, I think that the Miralax helped me to "get things going". I had some issues with my abdominal incision and they had to reopen it. When I had that done, the surgeon told me to stop sitting on the "john" and waiting for something to happen. So I didn't do that unless I felt that something was definitely going to happen. Hope this helps. Good luck.
