Nauseas since colon surgeryMy dad had colon resection and a hernia repaired five weeks ago today. He was doing well until two weeks ago when he got sick. Mom took him to the emergency room and after doing a CT Scan they said he had a urinary tract infection and infection where they connected and large and small intestines.
After putting him on a strong antibiotic that made him very sick and unable to eat or drink, he finished the meds on Sunday only to be put in the hospital on Tuesday due to being dehydrated. We bro...Read the full article
Re: Nauseas since colon surgeryIf he is only seeing a surgeon, I would have him see a gastroenterologist. All that nausea coming back doesn't sound good to me. I did have urinary issues, but not nausea. Keep taking his temperature. If he gets a fever, I'd get him back to the ER.
Hopefully this is a reaction to meds and settles down. I hpe he feels well soon. This surgery has a much longer recovery than they tell you. It's been 5 months and I cannot work due to "going" so often and being unpredictable about the hours. It is better with meds, but not back to normal. You sound like you really love your Dad, hang in there!
Re: Nauseas since colon surgeryI have had five attacks of Diverticulitis before having 12 " of my sig. colon removed on 2/26/09. Through all attacks and after the colon resectioning I was on antibiotics and every time I had no appetite and an upset stomach. Your Dr. can give you medicine for the nausea which will help with the appetite. Hang on everything will be OK.
