I left work to go to a quick clinic down the street because I was scheduled to leave for a trip to Mexico on Wed and did not want to be sick. The Dr took one look at me and sent me to the Hospital for tests. The hosital sent me to the ER, I was given a CT scan and some x rays. Let me first say you were very lucky. Thank god you had a doctor who listened to you and sent you to the hospital. Can I ask if they did they surgery open or laparascopically? (I'm sure I butchered the spelling!) I have been dealing with diverticulitis since I was 38. Now at 45 I'm told it's time for colon resection. I am very nervous but felt much better after reading your story. I wish you luck on your improving recovery.

This was an open surgery, as they were not sure what it was. It was treated as an exploratory. I went back to work today, just 5 hour shifts for a week, then I will go back to my usual 10 hour shifts. Feeling a little tired but no real pain. Food doesnt taste right and I eat very small meals. Scar is not nearly as bad a I expected. It's long (8") but healing quickly. I really dont think it's going to show much. I also had an extremely low blood count (8). IThey had to give me a transfusion before they even began the surgery, which accounts for most of my tiredness.
