Colon Resection - while they are in there

Post a new topicby TennWoman on Wed Sep 05, 2007 5:32 pm

My surgery is scheduled for Weds. Sept 12. I just came from my doctor after having had a CT scan. The scan revealed some sludge or small stones in my gallbladder. It also showed an umbilical hernia. My surgeon says she will take care of both problems while in there for the colon resection Is this normal? Are there any greater risks involved? I feel like I'm falling apart.

That is not an unusual plan for your surgeon to undertake and should not significantly increase the operative time of complication rate, good luck

open colon surgery is very invasive with a 2-3 month recovery. my advise is to take care of every thing when they do the resection. good luck.
