normal BMs...when?

Post a new topicby mestes on Sat May 31, 2008 5:06 pm

I just had a laparacopic colon resection due to diverticulitis on May 21 2008. It went well and as far as I can tell I'm recovering ok, except for one not so small problem: I'm running to the bathroom 10-15 times a day! I seem unable to "hold" things so instead of having a few regular BMs, I keep having many small ones. Did anybody else experienced this problem, and for how long? It's hard to get back to a normal life when you can't be too far from a toilet!

I HAD COLON CANCER AND SURVIVED 2002-2007 LUCKILY.I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM YOU DO AND ACCIDENTALLY FOUND A WAY WHERE YOU WILL NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM FOR ANY BM FROM 6AM TO MIDNIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY IT REQUIRES AN ENORMOUS DISCIPLINE AND SACRIFICE BUT IN MY CASE IT HAS BEEN WORTH IT. CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.

I am in my 6th week of recovery from a colon resection due to a large polyp (benign). I am still going to the bathroom 10-15 times a day. Small stools. I was wondering if you are doing better yet and if so how long did it take for you to have less bm's per day. My Dr said it may take a year for my body to adjust. I am 58 yrs old and retired so I am lucky I don't have to return to work. Would appreciate your response as I am wondering if this will ever get better. I feel fine in every other way. Thank you, Donna
