POST COLON RESECTION SYMPTOMSHello
I had a sigmoid colon resection one week ago and I'm now home. Unfortunately, my surgeon did not give me much info on what to expect when I got home, I'm seeing him in a week's time. However, the day before I left hospital I had terrible nausea which eased the day I was discharged. I feel slightly nauseous today which I find quite distressing. I have had no appetite since the surgery and I've worked out that, although I do not feel like eating, it's best to eat every 2-3 hours. I find that I cannot tolerate much food and feel quite queasy. I have some pain but that is nothing compared to the nausea. Anyone else experience the same symptoms? Thank you very much. Michelle
Re: POST COLON RESECTION SYMPTOMSI am having the same symptoms. Was even wondering if the pain was normal? I will be on week 5 post op. To make it worse, I have days when I dont go to the restroom at all, get stomach pain, then I get worried something is not right! Hope your doing better now?
Re: POST COLON RESECTION SYMPTOMSMichelle,
How are you? I hope your symptoms are better. My husband just had this surgery on Aug. 5th and after being home for 3 weeks has started having abdominal pain and severe nausea. The CT scan on Aug. 24th appeared normal. They prescribed him some nausea meds and Ativan for muscle spams. Do you have any advice?
Re: POST COLON RESECTION SYMPTOMSMy husband is going through the same thing. 3 weeks since surgery. First 2 weeks home - great. Now suddenly ab pain, nausea and vomiting. How are you? Do you have any suggestions? He doesn't go to the bathroom everyday either. Depends what he eats. Plus, he is afraid to eat anything. The doctors aren't much help in telling him what to eat after the surgery. I don't know if the pain and nausea is normal at this point?
