Seeking Relief from Resection Side Effects

Post a new topicby amethyst2 on Sun Jun 14, 2009 9:44 pm

I had a colon resection after a diagnosis of rectal cancer twelve years ago and a second resection three years ago. Fortunately, the pathology report following the second resection showed no cancer. However, since my last surgery was so low in the colon and removed most of what remained of my rectum, I've continued to have gas, bloating, and frequent bowel movements, which often lead to the pain and discomfort of hemorrhroids. I've tried probiotics, digestive enzymes, yogurt, Beano, Lomotil, and almost every other digestive product on the market. Pepto Bismol has given more relief than any other medication, but I know I must limit my use of Pepto. I have recently seen "Align'' advertised, and wondered if any of you have tried it. Can you recommend any other medications that you have found effective in controlling the symptoms I'm experiencing? Any suggestions will be appreciated.
