Should I still have blood in the stool after 8 weeks?

Wow - after reading what some of you are going through, I shouldn't complain. My BMs are pretty consistent and usually just once a day, although getting it started in the morning is sometimes a problem if I have somewhere to be. My concern, though, is touches of bright, red blood on or in my stool almost every day. I first noticed it at about 6 weeks when it showed on the TP. (I'm so glad we can discuss this kind of thing with others who understand and won't be squeamish.) I don't know if had been happening before that because, frankly, I never looked, and it didn't show on TP. Now that I'm "keeping track" I see that even when there is blood in the stool, it usually doesn't show on the TP, so who knows when it started. I also get a stomach ache after I go. I reported the blood to the surgeon and he said wait a bit longer. When it was still happening, I went in. He explained that it was probably just that the surgery site was probably getting a scab on it as it heals and every so often the scab would come off and it would bleed a little, then the scab would reform. That DID make sense, and I suppose it would make the area sensitive as the bowel passed by, thus the stomach ache. But I just don't know. At my uncertainty, he had a CT scan done and didn't note anything wrong. But I still wonder. It's just a little bit, but it's almost every day and it is bright red. Anybody else have this after 8 weeks?

I was wondering about that myself. I had sugery for diverticulitis march 6th 2009 and had part of my colon removed. On june7th I noticed blood again and have been worried since.I went to the Dr.'s office yesterday to try to get answers but he wasn't in. My first though was it may have been caused by something I had eaten. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY REGULAR dR. ON TUESDAY THE 16TH. mAYBE I CAN FIND SOMETHING OUT THEN.

I can offer you my experience. I had the large colon resection completed on May 29, 2009 due to perforated colon. This surgery was to reverse a colostomy installed backed in December 2008.

I have not had bloody discharge, ever. It may be something you are eating. Usually the blood is more of a dark color if it comes from internal. Do you think it may be hemmorrids from straining?
