Probable gastrectomyI have suffered from GI problems for the past 38 years. I have had a Nissen Vagotomy, Pylormyotomy, a Gastric Pacemake inserted and I still have severe problems. My surgeon is now proposing a possible gastrectomy. I am to start TPN for a month and see if my symptoms are decreased. If so, they will admit me and tube feed me directly to my small intestine. If this also is handled well, with no symptoms, then he feels it would be in order. Has anyone out there experienced this? I do not have cancer but I have severe pain, bloating and total gastroparesis.
Re: Probable gastrectomyI am scheduled for a gastrectomy in two weeks, I have a had a stomach ulcer that has been giving me problems for over a year. Everytime I eat, I hurt, I am always bloated, I burp constantly (and they stink) I have been miserable. I am really scared about having this surgery, but my doctor is very good and very positive about it all. I really have no choice, I can't continue to live like this. Thank God I do not have cancer either and I don't want it to lead to that, so I am going to try everything I can and if that included this surgery then I say my prayers and look to the hills from which my health comes from and that the good Lord.
