Successful HemorrhoidectomyFirst and foremost, I had a successful hemorrhoidectomy on March 12, 2009 using a Ligasure scalpal to remove internal and external hemorrhoids and some skin tags. But before I get into the details of my positive experience, let me give you some background.
I am a healthy 35 year old male who suffered from hemorrhoids for the last 5 years. From July 2007 through January 2009 I tried all sorts of treatments with no success. Like others, I thought I was able to “control” them by watc...Read the full article
Re: Successful HemorrhoidectomyI would like to add that I also had a successful Hemorrhoidectomy. I am a fit 58 yr old male, who runs 5 miles per day. Mine was done on Wed Aug 12, followed instructions the surgeon gave me with the exception that I did not take the prescribed pain pills. Had first BM about 10 hrs after the surgery, no pain until a little later. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would say it was around a 4. That lasted a few hours and then the pain was down to a 2. Finally the morning after the surgery I took 2 extra strength tylenol. On day 3,I went out for a 3 mile run, still only taking extra strength tylenol once per day, after a BM. The next day I was back to my 5 mile run, basically doing everything I was doing prior to the surgery. I am not sure if my surgeon used the same approach as stated in this post, but I would say that this was nothing like I have read on the internet. I had suffered with hemorroids for many years, had numerous banding procedures over the years which helped at the time, but in the last 12 months, nothing helped. Having now had the surgery I wish I had done it sooner as I also was restricted by the pain every morning for 4 to 5 hours. Now it is nice to have a BM and go do what I want. I am at 3 1/2 weeks since the surgery.
