About after care from hemorrhoidectomy.

Post a new topicby goldnoldie on Sat Sep 01, 2007 3:16 am

Hello to everyone,i am 60 yrs old.I have large piles and a prolapse of the bowel.I will probably have to get my rear end fixed up.I had a catscan 3 days ago,and i dont know yet what it has shown.
My GP is also sending a letter to the health services, requesting a colonostopy to be performed.
I have been told by some, that you have to take hot baths with lux flakes, after the opp,i dont know what lux flakes are supposed to do,but if any one knows about any of this, could they please post a letter.
I do not have a bathtub, but i do own a bidet,i wonder if this would be all i need to use.I could buy a bathtub if thats what i should be using though.
I have read posts about this operation, and it looks like i will be in for a lot of pain.Thats if i pluck up enough courage to go through with it.
Best Wishes .From goldngirl.

You should be able to sit in a small plastic or metal tub that you could purchase from a hardware or home goods store. Not sure about Lux flakes but it sounds like it wouldn't hurt, good luck

The bath and sitz bath are going to become your best friends after surgery. The soak is what makes things feel better also the bidet may be nice with a low volume warm spay instead of a sitz bath. It may sound stange but if you buy freeze pops that come in a plastic covering wrap them in a paper towel and insert them in your crack. I know it sounds weird but trust me on this one I've been there.
so go ahead and get it overwith and do it its not as bad as is sounds the only problem I have is a small amount of drainage from time to time. does any one else have a drainage issue.
good luck steve
