bad smelli had an anal fissure and a hemorrhoidectomy done on monday june ninth. i have been doing all the things they told me to do so i'm not in much pain or anything except when i bm. it is relieving to take warm bath after with no soap. the only thing i can't stand is the smell down there. there is always a little bleeding so i use baby wipes but can't get rid of smell. have to go back to work on monday and am terrified of the pain i might have to deal with. just wish there was some way of dealing with smell. i shower every mornong and use soap down there but one hour later there is little blood and bad smell. anyone else have to deal with smell?
Re: bad smellHi, I have just read your post, i too had a hemorrhoidectomy onn 22/6/2009. as 1 write it is 10 days down the line. I too experienced the bad smell, but have noticed it has subsided. I can only presume when you have the op they use iodine, and this is what u tend to notice. As i also had a bladder op last year, and had a similar smell. I am still in excruiating pain every time i have a BM, to the point i dread actually going. as i feel i am gonna pass out every time. I am due back at the hospital on monday which will then be two weeks post op, lets hope the doc can answer some of my questions and at least reassure me i will one day heal.
pain and smell freeit's been four weeks since my operation and i feel great. i think the smell was from continuos bleeding but when it finally stopped there was no more smell. i'm glad i had the operation. it's just itchy now but am sure that will disapate too. hope you feel as well as i do soon.
Re: bad smellI have had the stapling procedure in the past. And I did have a smell, that got progressivel worse. By the time I called my surgeon, it literally smelled like something had died. I started running fever and felt horrible. Come to find out I had gotten a postsurgical infection! After a couple days on antibiotics, which I didn't even have to go in, (the doc knew right away what it was), I felt GREAT! so you may want to make sure there isn't an infection going on!
