Update: Hemorroidectomy done 10-1-09Since my last post of the October 16th, I thought I would continue with my experience. I went to see the Colorectol Surgeon last Monday - 19 days after my surgery - and was surprised that he was not very happy with all of the activities that I was doing and obviously thought I could do. I informed him that I had not been taking any baths - only showers - and had stopped all medications. I also recounted how I was now picking up and carrying my 3 year old child and going on extending outings requiring long walking time. He then drew a picture of all that he had done inside me on a paper and explained that I had a very severe case that required many sutures and stitches. He then told me to begin to take Valium when needed for spasms (of which I do have a few, but nothing that bothers me really) and to stop picking up anything over 5 pounds until the middle of November, which would be 45 days after surgery. I am having normal BMs for the first time in years and without any actual pain and no bleeding. I am not sitting in an office chair for hours as I would usually do, but only as a precaution - not that I do not think that I could or should. I would have to say that this whole process has not been actually bad at all, and I am very glad that I did the surgery. I can have a BM in minutes and be done with it without pain or bleeding. I really just fell totally normal, and maybe realize that I either handle things better than most or others have complications that I just have not experienced (especially reading some of the posts here which gave me great pause pre-surgery). I cannot imagine that after a few more weeks I cannot just go about my business daily as if I never had the procedure.
