Post Hernia problems

Post a new topicby rederburgcathy on Mon Apr 28, 2008 10:32 pm

I had hernia repair July 2nd 2007. After my surgical site opened up. Created a hole large enough to have to use a wound vac approx six weeks. The Vac helped but did not close the wound completely and had a lot of pain. On April 10th 2008 had some webbing taken out around the hole. The surgeon told me this procedure was done to promote healing. After two weeks the surgical site open up again. Dr told me I could not have it sewed up because it can cause infection. He said to let it drain and let nature take its coarse. Now the surgical site has opened again and it is bigger and deeper than before. I need a second opinion as to if my surgeon is correct or I need to know what options I have . I am in a lot of pain and I am very mad because of this ongoing problem. I am on the edge of possibly filing a law suit. I have been told that my body maybe rejecting the mesh that was put in.

Hello, this is a forum moderator responding. Although I don't have a direct answer to your question, HC's MDLocator may be used to help you find a qualified surgeon in a community near you: http://www.surgerychannel.com/mdlocator/index.shtml/

Although MDLocator lists many surgeons, it does not include all. Thank you for participating in the forum, and I wish you the best in finding answers to your medical questions.
