hysterectomy

Post a new topicby cherrie on Tue Dec 04, 2007 2:07 am

I had a laproscopic vaginal assisted hysterectomy October 30, 07. It is now 5 weeks and am still not feeling well. I havent been able to rest and had to keep up with household chores due to family being sick since my return home from hospital November 3. My concern is that I am having burning pain in my lower abdomen along with some bouts of diahrrea the past week. It isnt a bug, Im sure of that. I am concerned that I hurt my recovery because I didnt have a chance to take care of me and am afraid that I may need surgery to fix this. Is there anyone who has had this happen to them?

Burning pain and bouts of diarrhea at the 5 wk mark is absolutely normal. It's been over a year since I had a total abdominal and I still have issues. (pain, constipation) I had asked my Dr. at my one year post op check up the same question: could I have done anything to myself after surgery to have prolonged my recovery; did I "over do it" and cause some sort of damage internally. He assured me that he had never heard of that being a possibility and felt confident that I had not damaged myself. Even though I was doing "mini sit ups" at the 2 wk post op stage. I'm assuming by now (February) that you have had a 6 wk ck up with your surgeon or Dr.? If you haven't that is your first step, good luck and take care!
