fundoplication surgery

Post a new topicby livingwith on Fri Aug 17, 2007 2:40 pm

I had fundoplication surgery about 3 weeks ago and at this point of time I feel that I might have made a mistake in having this surgery.
I cannot eat normally, my body is very weak and fatigued and my overall gastro distress is worse than before.

Hopefully my symptoms will improve in time, but my optimism for improvement is only wishful thinking. If I could turn back the clock I would not have this procedure....Read the full article

I had the surgery about 7 years ago and my stomach still doesn't feel right after I eat. It isn't near as bad as when I first had the surgery done, but its still uneasy. A few things you can do to help is:

1. eat several small meals a day. prolly about 1/4 portions you used to eat.
2. take small bites, I know this is hard, but my doctor told me to take bites about the size of a crouton.
3. chew your food up really good.
4. If you drink any coke or carbonated drinks........stop, your stomach can't handle this yet, and it will take years before it can, drink water. trust me, you'll get used to it and its really good after a while. I have just recently eased back to drinking a few a day. And when I say ease, I mean start by drinking a small amount at a time. but thats way down the road for you I'm sorry to say.
