Nissen problems?

Post a new topicby kezza117 on Thu Aug 28, 2008 8:28 am

Hi, I had my operation 17 months ago with no problems although the recovery lasted longer than I thought It would. But the last 3 days I have been having twisting and stabbing pains in my chest/under ribcage area. These spasms last from a few seconds to a few hours and seem to radiate into my back. Also I have been waking in the night with the feeling I'm being choked (no Its not my hubby lol) and I was just wondering If anyone else has had the same problems and If so any advice? Thanks

I have had the same back and lower chest pains. I have been about 18 months since surgery. Unfortunately for me these are similar symptoms to those I had prior to the surgery. I have sought medical care, but am looking on forums such as these for people with similar indications.

Have you considered gall bladder? You could check out symptoms on the web and see if they match what you're experiencing. My husband suffers similar radiating pain, and his gall bladder is the problem. Just a thought. Good luck!

You some times get spasms and it feels like you are chocking. Also the wrap may be to tight. If it continues you get used to it, or tell your doctor and they can go down through your throat and stretch it out. I had to have that done

Hello, I'm not sure if this helps but, I'm 14 months post Nissen. Immediately following surgery up until about 2 months ago, I experienced chest pain (felt like a stabbing feeling, while someone was sitting on my chest. this did radiate into my back, shoulders, arms, and jaw creating a panic feeling throughout my body and instantaneous sweat) immediately following eating (w/in 30mins). I've come accustom to the pain so I really don't feel the chest pain anymore, but have had multiple tests to see if everything is okay and everything does check out; however I have lost a total of 70lbs and continue to loose weight. There is no explanation to this as for the past 3 months I am now consuming more food than ever in my life. I weigh less now than when I was 9 years old. I guess for most people this would be a good thing, but now I'm getting concerned. I am now experiencing hyperactive bowel "sounds". The pain was normal for me, I have been assured that the wrap is not too tight but is this a sign of another complication not yet found? Any info on these types of symptoms please respond.
