post fundoplication pain

Post a new topicby busymom3 on Sat Jan 03, 2009 10:01 am

I just had the Nissen fundoplication 3 weeks ago. All is going great except now I am beginning to have pain in the esophagus area. It feels like someone has punched me. I also have pain on both sides right next to this area. The only relief I have is to take the pain medicine that I have left over from the surgery. I have even taken phazyme and it doesn't help. Has anyone had this after the fundo surgery and what can I do to get relief?

Hi busymom! I was wondering if your pain has subsided and if you found out what was causing it. I'm scheduled for a lap fundo in two weeks, and am trying to get myself ready for the post surgical challenges. I've struggled with the decision to have the surgery for at least two years. My doctors have been consistently nudging me to have the surgery. I've had persistent untreatable asthma, and they're hopeful that the surgery will resolve that issue. I'm looking forward to not having to sleep almost sitting up. I know that the recovery is a long road, and I'm determined to be patient and accepting of the problems I will face. Hope you're feeling better! How is your eating coming?
