Ostomy

My husband has an ostomy bag after colon surgery cancer, they never closed up the rectum because the plan was to reverse it. Well somewhere down the line about a week after the colon surgery he got an infection which is why they put the bag, which caused him incomplete paralyzed. so right now he has the back and front end open. But lately he's been getting back-up because some of his bowels is moving down to the rectum and they have to give him a laxitive to keep it cleaned out, he's thinking about having the rectum closed up not knowing whether the bag will ever be reverse now that he has spinal cord injury. Have anyone ever experience this with the bag and still the rectum is still getting some of the bowel? The only difference is he can't feel if it's down in his rectum until he's constipated and got all the pains,
