Disk Degeneration, Bulging and Herneated Disk

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Jun 10, 2002 7:18 pm

I have been having back pain for about a year and a half. At this time, I am unable to do household chores and lift moderately light objects. I cannot even pick up my laptop computer. I experience siatic pain on the right side. I have had a MRI and x-rays. The MRI shows 3 bulging/herneated disk, osteoarthritis, and degenerating disk from L1-S1. I have two pinched nerves, one of the right and one on the left side. The x-ray shows there is very little disk space between the last vertebra and the bottom of the spine. (I am not sure what the number of the vertebra is.)I am getting caudal shots at this time, which are helping with the pain. I have checked into VAX-D, but my insurance will not cover it. What other options do I have? Can herneated and/or bulging disks repair themselves with rest?

As a neurologist, I do not perform surgery. I would certainly speak with your neurosurgeon who would know best.
