L-5/S-1 Problem?

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Aug 07, 2001 9:04 pm

Q? Why is it assumed that all back pain is muscle related and all back pain is treated the same? If it is a muscle problem I assume that physical therapy would work but when the pain is related to a skeletal problem the physical therapy only increases discomfort! I have a hernated disc and cannot seem to get surgery. I have gone through two rounds of physical therapy and a epideral treatment. MRI and XRAYS have confirmed I have a skelatal problem not a muscle problem...Any comments or suggestions?

I can see you must be frustrated, as conservative treatment, such as you have had does not always help. Often, however, physical therpay and like treatmetn can help problem such as herniated discs or bone related problems. You might conisder getting a second opinion from a neurosurgeon. Good luck.
