New FindingsA Dr. Paul Sanberg of the University of Southern Florida reported to the AAAS in San Fransisco earlier this year that with labratory mice he had successfully implanted or by other means, placed 'stem cells' in their spinal cords and proven that the cells in the spinal cord could regenerate and these test mice had recovered from spinal injuries.
I would like to know more about his study and your opinions about this study. The first question and maybe the only one needed is has he experimented with humans and if not when?
Re: New FindingsI am not familiar with that particular study finding, but am aware that research into stem cells for spinal cord injury (and other disorders) is ongoing. Animal research is often done first, and when results indicate that safety and efficacy suggest a role in humans, studies may follow. You should contact his laboratory for further information.

Re: Re: New FindingsAfter doing some more reading I have some links that will help. This link will explain what stem cells are and the possibilities the research will provide.
http://www.nih.gov/news/stemcell/primer.htm This last link is a letter to the President of the United States urging funding research. It was signed by eighty Nobel laureates. http://www.topica.com/lists/intellect/read/message.html?mid=1601328341 [quote] A Dr. Paul Sanberg of the University of Southern Florida reported to the AAAS in San Fransisco earlier this year that with labratory mice he had successfully implanted or by other means, placed 'stem cells' in their spinal cords and proven that the cells in the spinal cord could regenerate and these test mice had recovered from spinal injuries...
