Numbness and Severe pain-after LaminectomyMRI diagnosis was severe spinal stenosis, arthritis, dehydrated discs, herniated, diffuse bulging discs and osteophytes...L 3/4/5
I had spinal laminectomy on L 3/4-5 about month ago and after also treating me with medrol dosepak for possible swelling, I am in worse shape now than before surgery. I had pain from back to ankle area/sciatica and now I have a severe hot piercing pain that shoots through the leg/kneecap to foot (could not move at.) Rested and composed self and was brought to hospital emergency and they knew it was severe spinal neurological symptoms...administered demerol shot and percoset til I see my dr. I also have very numb shins and ankles (cold prickles) becoming worse with pain daily...I can only walk from 1 room to another and must sit down...I am very scared and waiting to have another MRI/with dye the Neurosurgeon ordered but have to wait over another week. Pain is unbearable>>What caused this problem? Did the surgeon miss something during surgery because it seems worse? What should I do? Thanks so much ....anything u tell me will be appreciated.
Re: Numbness and Severe pain-after LaminectomyIt sounds like a complex situation. You might consider getting a second opinion about your back, bringing the MRI films and surgical reports for review. The first decision to be made will be whether it will be a surgical issue, or whether it will be treated with medication, therapy, or other forms of therapy. If so, a pain clinic may be a good idea.
