sciatica

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Feb 18, 2002 9:06 pm

I had lower back pain which went away, only thing is it became sciatica.I have to go for an mri but i dont know how long until i get it.In the meantime what can i do to relieve the pain?It is terrible in the morning when I get up.But as the day goes on it gets better(moving around at work helps).I've taken muscle relaxants(flexeril)and tylenol3 but they dont seem to help. Are there any types of exercises for this and should I take an even stronger painkiller? What about an epidural injection? Also how long does this condition last?Is it life long?

Let your doctor know that you are having a hard time with the pain, and that the present measures are not helping. If appropriate, stronger medications can be used. Your doctor might also suggest a course of physical therapy which can be helpful for pain control and mobility.
