Spinal Fusion

Post a new topicby Guest on Sun Jun 03, 2001 12:12 pm

Hello. My neurosurgeon has advised me to have a fusion of L5/S1. I have had two discectomys/laminectomys have now got anor herniated disc at same level. On MRI re is plenty of disc left by looks of things though. Two qustions. 1. Could please tell me if fusions using bone cage screws successful, is recovery time an orwise healthy person. 2. Do think worth a try at a third discecomy? Neuro said a possibility also, thought fusion would be better in long run. 3. Is a fusion very painful? Sorry s 3 questions!! Many many thanks. Kate

I would suggest that you speak with a neurosurgeon, who would be familiar with the surgical issues. Good luck.
